Subject: Save The Gila River! Call Governor Martinez Now!
Date: December 2nd 2014

Hello Friends of the Gila River!

Thank you very much for signing our Change.org petition to New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez asking her to protect the Gila River and stop the proposed Gila River diversion.  The Gila River flows into the Colorado River and so what happens in New Mexico river policy can impact river health in the entire Southwest U.S.

As you may know, the Governor's Interstate Stream Commission approved the Gila River diversion last week, and thus we need to reach out to Governor Martinez directly.  She is the last and only person who can stop the diversion.

Please take a moment and call Governor Martinez's office at 505-476-2200 and ask her to put a stop to this billion dollar boondoggle.

Also, if you have a twitter account, please send a tweet to the Governor like this:

  • As @ABQJournal Op-Ed says, #GilaRiver diversion could be costly. @Gov_Martinez should weigh in and stop it now #nmpol http://www.abqjournal.com/503512/news/nm-news/nm-should-carefully-weigh-costs-benefits-of-gila-project.html

Please stay on this mailing list of the Save The Colorado River Campaign and we will keep you up to date on all of the ways to protect and restore the rivers of the Southwest U.S. including the Gila and the Colorado River.

Thank you again for signing the petition.  Stay tuned for more news!
